HIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former additional chief secretary of Kerala, writer and orator Dr D Babu Paul (78) passed away on Saturday early morning following a heart condition at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.
He has served as Kerala University Vice-Chancellor, Revenue Department Principal Secretary, Cochin Port Trust Chairman, Finance Secretary, KSRTC Chief Executive, Travancore Titanium Managing Director and held other top positions.
He entered Govt. service at the age of 21. He accepted the position of Ombudsman at the age of 59.
Babu Paul is survived by children Mariam Joseph (Niba) and Cheriyan C Paul (Nibu). His son-in-law is Satish Joseph, son of former DGP M K Joseph, and daughter-in-law is Deepa, daughter of former DGP C A Chali. His wife is late Anna Babu Paul (Nirmala). K. Roy Paul, former aviation secretary and member of the Union Public Service Commission, is his brother.
